AURACAST

Auracast is a new feature within the Bluetooth standard that makes it possible to share audio wirelessly with multiple audio devices at the same time. Previously, this was always one-to-one. That is now changing, and it can be compared to a kindof “radio broadcast” within a limited area, such as a museum, church, conference hall, universities, public spaces, gyms, festivals, publictransport, companies, etc. Users can listen to your audio broadcast/stream using their own earbuds or headphones, including announcements, advertisements, translations, and more. The possibilities are enormous.

A NEW STANDARD FOR WIRELESS AUDIO

  • Multi-broadcast
  • Optimized high-quality audio
  • No app required
  • Potential range of more than 100 m indoors
  • Standard in future Bluetooth devices
  • Will eventually stream directly to hearing aids
  • Will become the new standard for all of us in everyday life

HOW IT WORKS

An unlimited number of Auracast™ receivers within range can participate in abroadcast. The transmitter—such as a microphone, sound system, smartphone, television, or tablet—sends a high-quality broadcast to receivers like headphones, earbuds, or hearing aids. As an intermediate step, this can also be done via a smartphone or smartwatch if your earbuds/headphones or hearing aid do not yet support it.

DEVELOPMENTS IN USER CONVENIENCE ARE MOVING AT A RAPID PACE

Brands such as Samsung and Sennheiser have already released their first generation of wireless earbuds that are Auracast-ready. JBL PRO earbuds even feature a smart charging case that allows you to select the correct broadcast directly—without using your phone. Want to keep the broadcast private? No problem: if needed, you can add a code. This technology will be offered everywhere in the coming years, even on your flat-screen TV at home, and will become part of our daily lives.
